This is an older device but the Droid 4's qwerty keyboard is still very nice! I had some trouble getting WiFi tethering to work, so I am posting for the googlers out there.
* Root your phone
* Install cyanogenmod 11
* Install wifi tether
* Run WiFi tether in AdHoc mode
Worked for me!
